Race

This week in class we discussed race we learned it's not a biological thing. Race is what we have created. We already know it's not biological, so what is it then? their skin color and the way that they look. When we see somone we label them right away without even getting to know them. It's not like only white people do this every race has their own opinion on another race. When we did that class activity and we had to look and their picture and guess what they were was kind of hard. We hardly got any right but this shows we cant judge somone by how they look because they might look like something but actually their something completely else. This actually happens to me in the summer i get really tan and people that i first meet ask me if i'm Hawaiian or Hispanic which i don't get cause im neither. i dont know why it would matter were they going to treat me differently if i said i was Hawaiian or Hispanic?

This week we talked about social class and how once you are born poor into a family it is extremely hard to get out of this situation and become rich. When we watched the video in class i couldn't believe how this family was living and how their was so many people in the house and they still had a hard time putting food on the table. I can kind of relate but not even close to how they live. My parents didn't go to college, they already had me and we had no money so we had to live with my grandparents for a while but they provided the food for us. I know what its like to be below everyone and my dad had to work extremely hard and i think we got very lucky with what we have now because usually the rich only become richer and the poor just become poorer. This shows when we were playing monopoly if u get everything handed to you life is 100 times easier than the other person that starts with nothing and the person with nothing kept trying their best and was hardly making any progress while the person that had everything handed to them just got to sit back and keep making more money. The monopoly game made me understand alot more.

Social Class

This week in class we watched a movie on social class. I don't really know what to think about this movie because right now I'm hating that the rich people look down at people that are working. But if i was in their situations i don't know how i would act? maybe i would act obnoxious maybe i wouldn't who knows . Also the girl that is trying to get a date is an idiot. she has no idea how shes suppose to act. shes making herself look dumb just to see if she could get a date. Even if she gets a date sooner or later she would have to tell the person who she really is. that it for now on what i think about to movie
